Sometimes you just want a holiday where you can switch off, do nothing and enjoy everything being taken care of... especially when you’re travelling with kids. That’s exactly what I was looking for when we booked a week at Dreams Playa Dorada, Lanzarote.
I’d heard great things from colleagues, loved the look of the hotel online and hadn’t done an all-inclusive break in a while. Add to that the fact I really like the Dreams brand and when a great deal came up, it felt like the perfect fit.

First Impressions – Warm Welcome & Gorgeous Surroundings
Arrival couldn’t have been more perfect. We were greeted with cold towels and welcome drinks (always a nice touch when you’ve been travelling), and to top it off, we were given an upgrade on check-in.
From the moment we stepped into the lobby, everything felt fresh, modern and relaxed. The staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. The grounds are beautifully kept, with plenty of spaces to relax, stroll, or just sit with a cocktail and take it all in.
Our Room – Golden Hour Views & Home Comforts
Our sea-view room was a highlight from the start. We arrived just as the sun was setting, so we walked straight into that golden hour glow over the ocean, pure holiday magic.
The room was spacious, modern and perfectly set up for us as a family. An extra bed had been arranged for Jax, but there was still plenty of room to spread out. The balcony gave us those gorgeous views and the TV had Netflix ready to go... such a bonus when you want a bit of downtime that doesn’t involve trying to decode Spanish TV!
Comfortable, stylish and thoughtful. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Facilities – Pools, Pools & More Pools
Dreams Playa Dorada has eight pools in total, so there’s something for everyone.
A fantastic kids’ pool with slides & little play area
An infinity pool, which we had access to thanks to our room upgrade.
Swim-up bars (yes, please).
A well-equipped gym (I loved keeping up with my daily steps in the air con).
The kids’ club was great too... really good staff, lovely facilities and perfect for Jax. It was super quiet because we weren’t travelling in school holidays.
The beach is right on your doorstep, so days can flow between pools, sand and sea with absolute ease.
Food & Drink – All-Inclusive Done Properly
The food was excellent. There’s a great buffet restaurant with loads of choice, but what really impressed me was the variety of à la carte options:
Japanese
Italian
Grillhouse
Mediterranean cuisine
On top of that, there’s a café included in the all-inclusive (hello, cakes and pastries on tap all day long) and a club lounge for those in upgraded rooms with extra perks and quieter spaces.
Everything was fresh, tasty and really well done... it never felt like you were getting ‘all-inclusive standard’ food.
How Was It for Jax?
He loved it. The pools were his happy place and he had so much freedom to enjoy them safely. The kids’ club staff were fantastic and even though it was quieter because we homeschool and weren’t tied to term dates, he still had a great time.
The resort is really well thought out for families, everything felt easy and safe, which makes a huge difference when you’re travelling with little ones.
Who’s It For?
Families who want a stress-free, easy holiday
Couples looking for some sunshine and a good all-inclusive (there’s an adult-only pool too)
Anyone who wants a beachfront, well-run resort with plenty of facilities
Those wanting a good mix of relaxation and things to do without ever needing to leave the resort
Final Thoughts – Would I Go Back?
Absolutely. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, comfort, and family-friendly luxury. The location is spot-on too... right by the marina with shops, restaurants, parks and lovely places to wander in the evening if you want a change of scene from the hotel.
It’s one of those places where everything is just easy and sometimes that’s exactly what you need from a holiday.
